Sensex up 23 pts in early trades

The Sensex opened with a small gain of four points at 7,192 over its last close. Steady buying support in tech and other select heavyweights pushed the index above the 7,200-mark to a high of 7,223.

The Sensex is now up 23 pts at 7,211, while the Nifty has gained four points at 2,189.

Infosys has commenced with a per cent gain (Rs 21) at Rs 2,155. Other tech majors, too, are up a per cent each in early trades.

Reliance is up a per cent (Rs 7) at Rs 649, and HDFC is up 1.10% (Rs 10) at Rs 890.

ICICI Bank has lost 1.32% (Rs 6) to Rs 440, while SBI has gained a per cent (Rs 5) to Rs 716.

Bajaj has tumbled 1.52% (Rs 21) to Rs 1,362, while Hero Honda has dropped 2.38% (Rs 15) to Rs 621.
