Reliance Communications has rallied 3% to Rs 597. ICICI Bank and Larsen & Toubro have advanced around 2.5% each to Rs 990 and Rs 2,851, respectively.
Hindustan Unilever, BHEL and Ranbaxy have gained 2.3% each at Rs 224, Rs 2,011 and Rs 415, respectively.
Mahindra & Mahindra and Reliance have advanced over 2% each to Rs 788 and Rs 2,322, respectively.
Bharti Airtel, HDFC Bank, SBI and Bajaj Auto are the other major gainers.
Infosys has dropped nearly 3% to Rs 1,769. Ambuja Cements and Satyam have shed 2% each to Rs 144 and Rs 410, respectively.
ITC has declined 1.5% to Rs 188.
Out of 2,798 stocks traded so far, 1,408 have declined, 1,344 have advanced and 46 are unchanged.
