Sensex up 236pts; breadth marginally -ve

The Sensex is now up 236 points at 16,800.

Reliance Energy has zoomed 9.5% to Rs 1,105. Maruti and NTPC have soared 4.5% each to Rs 972 and Rs 196, respectively.

Larsen & Toubro has surged 3.6% to Rs 2,884. Reliance Communications has advanced 3% to Rs 597.

ICICI Bank, BHEL and Reliance have rallied 2.5% each to Rs 989, Rs 2,015 and Rs 2,331, respectively.

Infosys has dropped 3% to Rs 1,765. Satyam has slipped over 2% to Rs 409.

ITC has shed 1.5% at Rs 188. Ambuja Cements and TCS are down 1% each at Rs 145 and Rs 1,006, respectively.

Out of 2,811 stocks traded so far, 1,429 have declined, 1,330 have advanced and 52 are unchanged.
