Sensex up 236pts; HDFC leads

The Sensex opened with a positive gap of 99 points at 15,094. The index is now up 236 points at 15,230.

The NSE Nifty is up 55 points at 4,629.

HDFC has surged 2.5% to Rs 2,267. Bharti Airtel and ONGC have rallied 2% each to Rs 795 and Rs 1,012, respectively.

ITC, TCS and Wipro have moved up nearly 2% each to Rs 191, Rs 825 and Rs 825, respectively.

HDFC Bank, NTPC and Hindustan Unilever have advanced around 1.5% each to Rs 1,290, Rs 194 and Rs 228, respectively.

Ranbaxy and Reliance Communications have slipped 1.3% each to Rs 444 and Rs 500, respectively.

DLF and Reliance are down 1% each at Rs 616 and Rs 2,138, respectively.
