Sensex up 237pts; Rel Energy zooms 5%

The Sensex is now up 237 points at 17,729.

Reliance Energy has zoomed 4.5% to Rs 1,442. Maruti and Reliance Communications have surged 2.7% each to Rs 1,053 and Rs 658, respectively.

Satyam, Larsen & Toubro and Reliance have rallied around 2.5% each to Rs 467, Rs 3,094 and Rs 2,475, respectively.

Bharti Airtel and HDFC have advanced around 2% each to Rs 1,005 and Rs 2,505, respectively.

Tata Steel has gained 1.8% at Rs 803, and Grasim has added 1.4% to Rs 3,473.

Cipla has shed 1.4% at Rs 185.

The market breadth is negative - out of 2,502 stocks traded so far, 1,343 have declined, 1,086 have advanced and 73 are unchanged.
