Sensex up 240pts; ONGC, RIL, ITC flare up

The Sensex touched a high of 12,145, and is now up 240 points at 12,114.

Tata Steel has surged 4.4% to Rs 598. Hindalco has moved up 2.5% to Rs 220.

ONGC has flared up nealry 4% to Rs 1,414. Reliance has gained nearly 3% at Rs 1,073. ITC has added 3.2% to Rs 201.

Hero Honda has zoomed nearly 4% to Rs 882. Ranbaxy and ICICI Bank have added 2.5% each to Rs 490 and Rs 629, respectively.

Reliance Energy and Infosys have advanced over 2% each to Rs 593 and Rs 3,210, respectively.

HDFC Bank has declined 1% to Rs 838.

Out of 2,253 stocks traded so far, 1,868 have advanced, 335 have declined and 50 are unchanged.
