Sensex up 243pts; Tata Steel soars 4%

The Sensex is now up 243 points at 17,861.

The NSE Nifty is up 83 points at 5,237.

Tata Steel has soared nearly 4% to Rs 803, and Hindalco has surged 3.7% to Rs 183.

Satyam has rallied nearly 3% to Rs 435.

Tata Motors has advanced 2.5% to Rs 724. NTPC, Hindustan Unilever and Reliance Energy have gained over 2% each at Rs 202, Rs 218 and Rs 1,609, respectively.

Grasim and Mahindra & Mahindra have moved up nearly 2% each to Rs 2,891 and Rs 646, respectively.

Maruti and ACC have added 1.7% each to Rs 782 and Rs 779, respectively. Ambuja Cements is up 1.5% at Rs 118.
