Sensex up 246pts; Hind Unilever drops 3%

The Sensex is now up 246 points at 16,490.

The NSE Nifty is up 69 points at 4,957.

HDFC and HDFC Bank have zoomed 6% each to Rs 2,525 and Rs 1,386, respectively. Hindalco has soared over 5% to Rs 186.

Infosys has rallied 4.3% to Rs 1,668, and DLF has surged 3.7% to Rs 645.

Tata Steel and Satyam have advanced over 3% each to Rs 713 and Rs 468, respectively.

Mahindra & Mahindra and ICICI Bank have moved up over 2.5% each to Rs 637 and Rs 836, respectively.

Jaiprakash Associates, TCS and Wipro have gained around 2% each at Rs 218, Rs 995 and Rs 456, respectively.

Hindustan Unilever has plunged 3.5% to Rs 233. ACC has slipped over 1% to Rs 797.

Out of 2,757 stocks traded so far, 2,016 have advanced, 688 have declined and 53 are unchanged.
