Sensex up 24pts; Rel Energy surges 5%

The Sensex is now up 24 points at 15,815.

The NSE Nifty is up 20 points at 4,767.

Reliance Energy has soared 5% to Rs 1,235. Mahindra & Mahindra and TCS have surged 2.7% each to Rs 624 and Rs 899, respectively.

Satyam has rallied over 2% to Rs 437. Hindalco, Reliance and ACC have advanced 1.5% each to Rs 175, Rs 2,454 and Rs 832, respectively.

Wipro and Tata Motors are up over 1% each to Rs 417 and Rs 639, respectively.

Jaiprakash Assocaites has dropped 2.3% to Rs 214. Bharti Airtel has slipped 2% to Rs 804.

ICICI Bank and HDFC Bank have declined 1.5% each to Rs 824 and Rs 1,355, respectively.

NTPC is down over 1% at Rs 186.

The market breadth is fairly positive - out of 2,449 stocks traded so far, 1,652 have advanced, 712 have declined and 85 are unchanged.
