Sensex up 25 pts, RIL logs gains

Though, tech cement and pharma stocks are displaying a flat trend, extended gains in select heavyweights, auto and other select old economy countrers have lifted the gains of the index in mid-morning trades.

The Sensex has added 25 points to 6,524, while the Nifty has moved up 12 points to 2,004.

Reliance has moved up 1.50% (Rs 8) to Rs 528. ONGC is up a per cent (Rs 5) at Rs 853. ITC and HLL, however, are trading with marginal losses at Rs 1,495 and Rs 129, respectively.

SBI at Rs 654 (up Rs 5), HDFC Bank at Rs 541 (up Rs 2) and ICICI Bank at Rs 400 (up Rs 4) are holding on to their steady gains.

Maruti has advanced 2% (Rs 9) to Rs 454. Hero Honda and Tata Motors are up a per cent each at Rs 572 (up Rs 5) and Rs 436 (up Rs 4), respectively.

Reliance Energy has moved up 1.69% (Rs 8) to Rs 484. While L&T has clocked a per cent gain (Rs 11) to Rs 1,090. Bharti is up Rs 3 at Rs 219). HDFC, however, has declined 1.16% (Rs 9) to Rs 756.

Satyam is up a per cent (Rs 4) at Rs 447. Other tech pivotals are witnessing a flat trend.

Ranbaxy has gained Rs 4 to Rs 982. Dr. Reddy's and Cipla are trading with steady gains at Rs 692 and Rs 274, respectively.

Grasim and Gujarat Ambuja are largely trading on a flat note at Rs 1,126 and Rs 441, respectively. ACC is down a per cent (Rs 3) at Rs 376.

Select consumer durable and Capital goods stocks have firmed up. Su-raj Diamond has spurted 9.30% (Rs 4) to Rs 52. While Mirc Electronics has jumped 5.52% to Rs 26, Samtel Color has surged 5.17% to Rs 116. Titan has gained 2% to Rs 297, and BPL is up 1.25% at Rs 48.

Dredging Corporation has notched up 4.72% gains (Rs 24) to Rs 530, and Usha Martin has logged 3.56% gains (Rs 3) to Rs 87. While Thermax has gained 3.46% (Rs 22) to Rs 660, Crompton Greaves is up 1.76% (Rs 8) at Rs 480.
