Sensex up 253pts; Hindustan Zinc zooms 10%

The Sensex touched a high of 12,145, and is now up 253 points at 12,127.

Tata Steel has zoomed nearly 5% to Rs 601. Hindalco has rallied over 3% to Rs 222.

ONGC has flared up over 4% to Rs 1,418. Reliance has gained 2.7% at Rs 1,072.

Hero Honda has rallied nearly 4% to Rs 882. Gujarat Ambuja has soared over 3% to Rs 112, and Grasim has added 2.5% to Rs 2,237.

ICICI Bank has advanced 2.7% to Rs 630. Infosys has moved up 2.4% to Rs 3,218.

HDFC Bank is the sole loser among the Sensex stocks.

The market breadth is extremely positive. Out of 2,103 stocks traded so far, 1,785 have advanced, 272 have declined and the rest are unchanged.

Hindustan Zinc has zoomed over 10% to Rs 934. Crompton Greaves, GMDC, Gometric Software, JSW Steel, IndusInd Bank, United Phosphorous, Thermax, MRPL and Bombay Dyeing are the other major gainers.

Graphite India has gained 8% at Rs 307 on the back of strong results.

ICI India has slipped over 3% to Rs 360. Syndicate Bank and Zee are down over 1% each.
