Sensex up 258pts; breadth extremely +ve

The Sensex is now up 258 points at 14,507.

All index stocks are in positive zone.

Ambuja Cements and Grasim have soared over 4% each to Rs 136 and Rs 2,838, respectively. ACC has gained 3.3% at Rs 985.

HDFC has zoomed over 4% to Rs 1,980. Larsen & Toubro and Hindalco have surged 3% each to Rs 2,456 and Rs 143, respectively.

BHEL has rallied nearly 3% to Rs 1,715. Tata Motors has gained 2.6% each at Rs 635, and ITC has added 2.3% to Rs 162.

Reliance Energy, SBI, Ranbaxy and Satyam have advanced over 2% each to Rs 740, Rs 1,490, Rs 362 and Rs 426, respectively.

Reliance Communications, Infosys, Mahindra & Mahindra, Tata Steel, NTPC and Bharti Airtel are the other major gainers.

The market breadth is extremely positive - out of 2,294 stocks traded so far, 1,688 have advanced, 557 have declined and 48 are unchanged.
