Sensex up 25pts; Grasim rallies 3%

The Sensex is moving in a narrow band of 20 points 10,120 to 10,140. The index is now up 25 points at 10,136.

Grasim has rallied 3.2% to Rs 1,624.

Larsen & Toubro has surged 2.6% to Rs 2,373, and Cipla is up 2% at Rs 573.

Tata Power and Reliance have gained over 1% each at Rs 512 and Rs 617, respectively. BHEL, ICICI Bank and Ranbaxy are the other notable gainers among the Sensex stocks.

NTPC has declined over 2% to Rs 119.

HLL and HDFC Bank have shed 1.7% each at Rs 205 and Rs 748, respectively. Hero Honda has slipped 1.2% to Rs 912.

Dr.Reddy's, Gujarat Ambuja, HDFC and Bharti Tele are the other notable losers.

The market breadth continues to remain positive. Out of 2,275 stocks traded so far, 1,509 have moved up, 699 have slipped and the rest are unchanged.

Titan leads the value chart with a turnover of Rs 44.85 crore followed by Cipla (Rs 32.11 crore), Larsen & Toubro (Rs 29.72 crore), Tulip IT (Rs 23.90 crore) and Canara Bank (Rs 23.30 crore).

HFCL tops the volume chart with trades of around 32.07 lakh shares followed by McLeod Russel (19.12 lakh), GV Films (17.19 lakh), Timex Watches (14.69 lakh) and Nitin Spinners (12.77 lakh).
