Sensex up 262pts; Tata Power, Bharti in red

The Sensex is now up 262 points at 10,928.

After opening with a positive gap of 69 points at 10,735, the index has surged to a high of 11,051.

Tata Steel has zoomed 7.5% to Rs 552. Larsen & Toubro, Bajaj Auto and HDFC have rallied 5% each to Rs 2,412, Rs 2,926 and Rs 1,209, respectively.

BHEL and Cipla have surged over 4% each to Rs 1,982 and Rs 232, respectively.

Infosys has advanced 3.8% to Rs 2,944. ITC has gained 3.5% at Rs 187, and Grasim has added 3.2% to Rs 1,975.

Reliance is up 3% at Rs 977.

Tata Power has slipped 1.2% to Rs 495, and Bharti Tele is down 1% at Rs 389.

Out of 2,364 stocks traded so far, 1,880 have advanced, 442  have declined and 42 are unchanged.
