Sensex up 267pts; HDFC Bank soars 6%

The Sensex is now up 267 points at 16,511.

HDFC Bank has zoomed 5.6% to Rs 1,379. Infosys has soared 4.5% to Rs 1,673, and Wipro has surged 3.7% to Rs 464.

DLF, Hindalco and Satyam have rallied nearly 3.5% each to Rs 643, Rs 182 and Rs 469, respectively.

Jaiprakash Associates and Tata Steel have moved up around 3% each to Rs 220 and Rs 711, respectively.

ICICI Bank has advanced 2.7% to Rs 838. HDFC and SBI have added 2.5% each to Rs 2,445 and Rs 1,705, respectively.

ACC and Hindustan Unilever are down 1% each at Rs 799 and Rs 239, respectively.

Out of 2,650 stocks traded so far, 1,952 have advanced, 636 have declined and 62 are unchanged.
