Sensex up 269pts; ONGC soars 4%

The Sensex is now up 269 points at 20,199.

ONGC has soared nearly 4% to Rs 1,241, and Bharti Airtel has zoomed 2.8% to Rs 997.

HDFC has rallied 2.5% to Rs 2,944. Cipla and Grasim have surged 2.3% each to Rs 197 and Rs 3,696, respectively.

Reliance has moved up 1.5% to Rs 2,880. Maruti and HDFC Bank have advanced 1.8% each to Rs 1,064 and Rs 1,724, respectively.

ICICI Bank, Hindalco and ACC have added 1.6% each to Rs 1,295, Rs 196 and Rs 1,080, respectively.

Tata Steel, SBI and Bajaj Auto are the other major gainers at Rs 846, Rs 2,459 and Rs 2,749, respectively.

Infosys has slipped nearly 2% to Rs 1,716.

Out of 2,821 stocks traded so far, 2,223 have advanced, 578 have declined and 20 are unchanged.
