Sensex up 270pts; Bharti advances 3%

The Sensex is now up 270 points at 16,751.

The NSE Nifty is up 83 points at 5,041.

Tata Steel has surged 4% to Rs 744. Jaiprakash Associates has rallied 3.7% to Rs 225, and Wipro have moved up 3.5% to Rs 475.

Grasim, HDFC Bank and Bharti Airtel have advanced 2.7% each to Rs 2,638, Rs 1,434 and Rs 845, respectively.

TCS, Hindalco and Ranbaxy have gained around 2.5% each at Rs 1,027, Rs 191 and Rs 492, respectively.

Satyam, HDFC, Larsen & Toubro and DLF are up around 2% each at Rs 479, Rs 2,539, Rs 2,833 and Rs 661,respectively.
