Sensex up 275pts; HDFC Bank advances 4%

The Sensex is now up 275 points at 14,285.

HDFC Bank has rallied 4% to Rs 1,057. Tata Motors has surged 3.8% to Rs 883, and Larsen & Toubro has moved up 3.4% to Rs 1,669.

ICICI Bank, Gujarat Ambuja and Maruti have moved up 3% each to Rs 942, Rs 135 and Rs 883, respectively.

BHEL and Reliance Communications have flared up 2.6% each to Rs 2,387 and Rs 463, respectively.

Bharti Aritel, Satyam, Wipro, HLL and TCS are the other major gainers.

Out of 2,192 stocks traded so far, 1,833 have advanced, 336 have declined and 23 are unchanged.
