Sensex up 275pts; HDFC surges 5%

The Sensex is now up 275 points at 16,520.

The NSE Nifty is up 76 points at 4,964.

HDFC Bank has zoomed over 6% to Rs 1,386. Hindalco and HDFC have soared 5.3% each to Rs 186 and Rs 2,510, respectively.

Infosys has surged over 4% to Rs 1,666. Tata Steel and DLF have gained 3.3% each at Rs 713 and Rs 643, respectively.

ICICI Bank and Satyam have rallied 2.7% each to Rs 838 and Rs 467, respectively.

Jaiprakash Associates, Mahindra & Mahindra, TCS and SBI have advanced around 2% each to Rs 219, Rs 634, Rs 995 and Rs 1,698, respectively.

Hindustan Unilever has slipped 2% to Rs 236.

Out of 2,735 stocks traded so far, 1,985 have advanced, 694 have declined and 56 are unchanged.
