Sensex up 275pts; JP Associates up 5%

The Sensex is now up 275 points at 15,901.

The NSE Nifty is up 63 points at 4,803.

Jaiprakash (JP) Associates has zomed nearly 5% to Rs 236. ICICI Bank and HDFC have soared around 4.5% each to Rs 791 and Rs 2,463, respectively.

Infosys has rallied 4% to Rs 1,477. SBI has gained 3.5% at Rs 1,680, and Wipro has added 3.3% to Rs 422.

DLF and Satyam have moved up nearly 3% each to Rs 645 and Rs 408, respectively.

Hindalco, TCS and Bharti Airtel have advanced around 2.5% each to Rs 172, Rs 856 and Rs 825, respectively.

Reliance, ACC and HDFC Bank have gained over 2% each to Rs 2,397, Rs 843 and Rs 1,335, respectively.

Grasim, Reliance Communications and Mahindra & Mahindra are up nearly 2% each at Rs 2,645, Rs 531 and Rs 663, respectively.

Reliance Energy has slipped 1.5% to Rs 1,269. BHEL and Tata Steel have shed 1% each at Rs 1,873 and Rs 661, respectively.

Out of 2,587 stocks traded so far, 2,025 have advanced, 517 have declined and 45 are unchanged.
