Sensex up 277pts; HDFC surges 4%

The Sensex is now up 277 points at 14,526.

All index stocks continue to trade in positive zone.

HDFC and Ambuja Cements have zoomed over 4% each to Rs 1,983 and Rs 136, respectively.

ACC and Grasim have soared 3.8% each to Rs 989 and Rs 2,827, respectively.

Larsen & Toubro and Hindalco have surged 3% each to Rs 2,459 and Rs 143, respectively. Reliance Energy and BHEL have rallied 2.8% each to Rs 745 and Rs 1,711, respectively.

Tata Motors and ITC have gained 2.5% each at Rs 635 and Rs 162, respectively.

Satyam, Ranbaxy, SBI, Mahindra & Mahindra and Reliance Communications are up over 2% each.

Out of 2,412 stocks traded so far, 1,796 have advanced, 562 have declined and 54 are unchanged.
