Sensex up 286pts; L&T surges 4%

The Sensex opened with a positive gap of 211 points at 18,737, and touched a high of 18,858. The index is now up 286 points at 18,812.

Larsen & Toubro has zoomed 4% to Rs 4,100. DLF and BHEL have soared over 3% each to Rs 849 and Rs 2,564, respectively.

NTPC has surged 2.7% to Rs 234. Bajaj Auto has gained 2.3% at Rs 2,530.

Tata Motors, ONGC and Reliance Energy have rallied over 2% each to Rs 707, Rs 1,173 and Rs 1,638, respectively.
