Sensex up 293pts; Larsen & Toubro gains 5%

The Sensex is now up 293 points at 16,308.

The NSE Nifty is up 101 points at 4,931.

Tata Steel has zoomed nearly 9% to Rs 713. Larsen & Toubro has soared over 5% to Rs 3,118.

Wipro and BHEL have surged 4.5% each to Rs 450 and Rs 2,077, respectively.

Jaiprakash Associates and Infosys have rallied 4% each to Rs 241 and Rs 1,498, respectively.

Satyam, NTPC and Reliance have gained over 3% each at Rs 408, Rs 203 and Rs 2,344, respectively.

Reliance Energy, DLF and Cipla have moved up 2.7% each to Rs 1,322, Rs 692 and Rs 217, respectively.

ITC is up over 2% at Rs 205.

ONGC has dropped 2.6% to Rs 1,040.

HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank and HDFC have slipped over 2% each to Rs 1,405, Rs 816 and Rs 2,608, respectively.

Tata Motors has declined 1.5% to Rs 645, and Hindustan Unilever is down over 1% at Rs 241.

Out of 2,709 stocks traded so far, 2,291 have advanced, 384 have declined and 34 are unchanged.
