Sensex up 29pts; Cummins soars 16%

The Sensex is steady with gains of 29 points at 9,948.

Dr.Reddy's is up 6.6% at Rs 1,193. Cipla has spurted 1.7% to Rs 449.

Larsen & Toubro has gained 2.8% at Rs 2,227. BHEL has jumped over 1% to Rs 1,818.

Tata Power has moved up 2.2% to Rs 482, and NTPC is up 1.7% at Rs 117. However, Reliance Energy has shed 1.6% to Rs 626.

Hero Honda has rallied over 2% to Rs 874. Bajaj Auto has advanced 1.8% to Rs 2,193. Tata Motors, however, has slipped over 1% to Rs 703.

While Hindalco has added 1.8% to Rs 168, Tata Steel has lost nearly 1% to Rs 401.

HDFC has advanced 1.5% to Rs 1,361. ICICI Bank has declined 1.4% to Rs 601, and HDFC Bank is down nearly 1% at Rs 756.

ACC has spurted 1.2% to Rs 580. Gujarat Ambuja has dropped 1.2% to Rs 87.50.

Wipro, too, is down over 1% at Rs 524.

Out of 2,384 stocks traded so far, 1,511 have declined, 814 have advanced and 59 are unchanged.

Cummins, which has soared 16% to Rs 207, leads the value chart with a turnover of Rs 49.92 crore followed by SBI (Rs 44.82 crore), Tulip IT (Rs 43.65 crore), Tata Steel (Rs 42.25 crore) and Suzlon (Rs 38.87 crore).

HFCL tops the volume chart with trades of around 47.53 lakh shares followed by GV Films (38.75 lakh), Cummins (24.96 lakh), Bombay Rayon (21.24 lakh) and Radha Madhav (17.86 lakh).
