Sensex up 307pts; breadth -ve

The Sensex is now up 307 points at 17,636.

Infosys has zoomed 5.5% to Rs 1,996. TCS has soared 3.6% to Rs 1,076. Wipro and Satyam have surged around 2% each to Rs 464 and Rs 451, respectively.

HDFC has rallied 3% to Rs 2,582. NTPC has moved up 2.5% to Rs 211.

Reliance, ICICI Bank, Larsen & Toubro and ONGC have gained around 2% each at Rs 2,341, Rs 1,082, Rs 2,871 and Rs 1,016, respectively.

Cipla and Ranbaxy have dropped nearly 2.5% each to Rs 184 and Rs 430, respectively. SBI has slipped 1.5% to Rs 1,865.

Ambuja Cements and Dr.Reddy's have shed 1.3% each to Rs 145 and Rs 650, respectively. Tata Steel is down over 1% at Rs 832.

Out of 2,800 stocks traded so far, 1,842 have declined, 899 have advanced and 59 are unchanged.
