Sensex up 309pts; breadth firm

The Sensex is now up 309 points at 19,248.

HDFC Bank and ICICI Bank have zoomed around 4% each to Rs 1,675 and Rs 1,170, respectively.

Maruti has soared 3.6% to Rs 1,002. Wipro has surged 2.4% to Rs 460.

Tata Motors, HDFC, ITC and SBI have rallied 1.7% each to Rs 734, Rs 2,760, Rs 190 and Rs 2,292, respectively.

Hindalco, DLF, TCS and Mahindra & Mahindra have gained 1.5% each at Rs 187, Rs 893, Rs 990 and Rs 720, respectively.

Out of 2,780 stocks traded so far, 1,563 have advanced, 1,141 have declined and 76 are unchanged.
