Sensex up 31 pts in early trades

The Sensex has logged gains in early trades to 7,637 (up 31 pts) following steady gains in select old and new economy stocks. The Nifty is up two points at 2,326.

Reliance has clocked a per cent gain (Rs 4) to Rs 715.

ICICI Bank has gained 1.67% (Rs 8) to Rs 486, while HDFC Bank is up Rs 2 at Rs 660. SBI, however, has slipped in early trades to Rs 776 - down Rs 3.

Satyam is up a per cent (Rs 4) at Rs 512, and Infosys has commenced in the green at Rs 2,278 - up Rs 7.

Cement, auto and pharma stocks have also largely exhibited gains in early trades.
