Sensex up 33pts, ONGC gains 2.6%

The Sensex opened with a huge positive gap of 60 points at 9,399, and moved up to a high of 9,413 in early deals. After moving in a narrow range thereafter, the Sensex finally closed with a gain of 33 points at 9,372.

ONGC moved up 2.6% (Rs 30) to Rs 1,190. SBI was up Rs 3 at Rs 910. Reliance, however, declined Rs 5 to Rs 855.

Infosys was up Rs 10 at Rs 2,983. While Satyam gained Rs 5 to Rs 718, Wipro was up Rs 3 at Rs 460. TCS, however, was down Rs 3 at Rs 1,684.

Tata Motors advanced 2.4% (Rs 15) to Rs 642. Bajaj was up Rs 13 at Rs 2,097. While Maruti was down Rs 6 at Rs 640, Hero Honda dropped Rs 3 to Rs 870.

HDFC Bank gained 2.3% (Rs 17) to Rs 743. HDFC was firm right through the session, and closed with a gain of 1.6% (Rs 20) at Rs 1,289.

Tata Steel was up 1.6% (Rs 6) at Rs 381. Cipla moved up 1.3% (Rs 6) to Rs 437. NTPC, ACC, ITC, Dr. Reddy's, Grasim and Bharti Tele also finished with gains.

Ranbaxy dropped 1.7% (Rs 6) to Rs 358. L&T slipped Rs 19 to Rs 1,732. HLL, Reliance Energy, Hindalco, ICICI Bank and Tata Power also declined.
