HDFC Bank has surged 2.2% to Rs 1,509. Ranbaxy has gained 1.9% to Rs 504. Satyam has moved up 1.8% to Rs 493.
Larsen & Toubro and Hindustan Unilever have added 1.6% each to Rs 3,010 and Rs 242, respectively.
Jaiprakash Associates is trading at Rs 269 - up 1.4%.
SBI, DLF and Tata Motors are the other major gainers.
Ambuja Cements and Infosys have plunged 1.4% each to Rs 111 and Rs 1,865, respectively.
Hindalco and HDFC have shed 1% each at Rs 202 and Rs 2,770, respectively.
