Sensex up 34pts; Reliance, HDFC Bank weak

The Sensex is now up 34 points at 16,934.

Satyam has zoomed nearly 4% to Rs 427. TCS has soared 3% to Rs 1,032. Infosys has surged 2.8% to Rs 1,820, and Wipro has gained 2.4% at Rs 446.

HDFC has rallied nearly 2% to Rs 2,440. Tata Steel has moved up 1.5% to Rs 755.

Cipla and Reliance Communications are up 1% each at Rs 171 and Rs 600, respectively.

Reliance and HDFC Bank have dropped nearly 2.5% each to Rs 2,340 and Rs 1,365, respectively.

Reliance Energy and Tata Motors have slipped over 2% each to Rs 1,063 and Rs 725, respectively.

Maruti and NTPC have shed 1.5% each to Rs 977 and Rs 193, respectively.

Hindustan Unilever and Hindalco are down 1% each to Rs 224 and Rs 166, respectively.

Out of 2,638 stocks traded so far, 1,486 have advanced, 1,081 have declined and 71 are unchanged.
