Sensex up 35pts; NTPC, ONGC slip

The Sensex is now up 35 points at 13,817.

HDFC has soared 5% to Rs 1,676. Tata Steel has surged 3% to Rs 579.

Bajaj Auto, Hindalco and ITC have rallied over 2% each to Rs 2,620, Rs 148 and Rs 164, respectively.

Wipro has moved up 1.7% to Rs 559. HDFC Bank has added 1.4% to Rs 1,010.

Satyam, Reliance Communications and SBI are up around 1% each at Rs 458, Rs 468 and Rs 1,133, respectively.

Tata Motors, NTPC, ONGC and TCS are the notable losers.

Out of 2,585 stocks traded so far, 1,413 have advanced, 1,094 have declined and 78 are unchanged.
