Sensex up 36pts; HDFC soars 4%

The Sensex is now up 36 points at 18,770.

HDFC has zoomed over 4% to Rs 2,615. NTPC has soared over 3% to Rs 262.

HDFC Bank and Reliance Communications have surged over 2.5% each to Rs 1,515 and Rs 712, respectively.

Hindalco, Larsen & Toubro and Reliance Energy have rallied over 2% each to Rs 211, Rs 4,251 and Rs 1,854, respectively.

ONGC and SBI have moved up around 1.5% each to Rs 1,197 and Rs 2,268, respectively.

Bharti Airtel, Tata Steel and Maruti are up over 1% each at Rs 844, Rs 825 and Rs 1,004, respectively.

Wipro has shed 2.5% at Rs 446. Mahindra & Mahindra and ITC have slipped 1.7% each to Rs 716 and Rs 175, respectively.
