Sensex up 378pts; Cipla, Ranbaxy weak

The Sensex is now up 378 points at 17,707.

Infosys has zoomed over 5% to Rs 1,991. HDFC and NTPC have soared around 3.5% each to Rs 2,598 and Rs 213, respectively.

Reliance has surged 3.3% to Rs 2,365. Reliance Communications and TCS have rallied around 3% each to Rs 631 and Rs 1,069, respectively.

BHEL has advanced 2.8% to Rs 2,045, and Wipro has added 2.5% to Rs 465.

Cipla and Ranbaxy have slipped over 2% each to Rs 184 and Rs 432, respectively.

Ambuja Cements has dropped 1.6% to Rs 145, and SBI has shed 1.3% to Rs 1,868.

Tata Steel and Dr.Reddy's are down over 1% each to Rs 831 and Rs 652, respectively.

Out of 2,823 stocks traded so far, 1,800 have declined, 951 have advanced and 72 are unchanged.
