Sensex up 37pts; SBI, ITC down 2%

The Sensex is now up 37 points at 17,328.

Reliance Energy has zoomed 12% to Rs 1,349. ONGC, NTPC and Reliance Communications have surged around 4.5% each to Rs 1,002, Rs 202 and Rs 611, respectively.

Ambuja Cements and Grasim have rallied 2.8% each to Rs 148 and Rs 3,611, respectively.

Cipla and Mahindra & Mahindra have advanced over 2% each to Rs 187 and Rs 768, respectively.

ACC and Dr.Reddy's are the other major gainers.

SBI, Wipro and ITC have plunged 2% each to Rs 1,911, Rs 451 and Rs 186, respectively. HDFC Bank has slipped 1.8% to Rs 1,413.

TCS, ICICI Bank and HDFC have dropped around 1.5% each to Rs 1,040, Rs 1,047 and Rs 2,490, respectively.

BHEL, Maruti and Tata Steel are down over 1% each to Rs 2,006, Rs 987 and Rs 840, respectively.

 
Out of 2,770 stocks traded so far, 1,720 have advanced, 977 have declined and 73 are unchanged.
