Sensex up 38 pts on fresh buying

Fresh buying in Reliance, banking, tech and other old economy stocks has spurred the gains of the index.

The Sensex is currently above the 6,400 mark at 6,405 - up 38 points. The Nifty has upped its gains by 16 points to 2,014.

Reliance, on fresh buying support, has advanced 2.86% (Rs 15) to Rs 541. While ITC is up with a small gain of Rs 3 at Rs 1,280, HLL is trading on a flat note at Rs 142.

ONGC has jumped 2.17% (Rs 17) to Rs 801.

SBI has added 1.55% (Rs 9) to Rs 614. While HDFC Bank has inched up by 1.15% (Rs 6) to Rs 491, ICICI Bank is up a per cent (Rs 4) at Rs 358.

Satyam has gained nearly 2% (Rs 7) to Rs 386, and Wipro is up a per cent (Rs 7) at Rs 696. Infosys has minimised its losses, and is down a per cent (Rs 16) at Rs 2,027.

Bajaj has moved up a per cent (Rs 10) to Rs 1,081. While Maruti also is up a per cent (Rs 3) at Rs 440, Hero Honda and Tata Motors are marginally down at Rs 574 and Rs 493, respectively.

L&T has flared up 3% (Rs 29) to Rs 968, while Tisco is up nearly 2% (Rs 6) at Rs 361.

Bharti, however, is still reeling under selling pressure, and has shed 4.19% (Rs 9) to Rs 202. Reliance Energy is trading lower by 2% (Rs 11) at Rs 534.
