Sensex up 39 pts, ITC flares up

The market, which reported strong upward movement in the opening bell, has lost some ground in current trades following profit-taking in most of the counters.

The Sensex, as a result, is now up 39 points at 6,174, while the Nifty is up four points at 1,913.

ITC has scaled up 2.25% (Rs 31) to Rs 1,400. While ONGC has gained 1.77% (Rs 15) to Rs 855, Reliance is up a per cent (Rs 4) at Rs 518. HLL is up 1.33% (Rs 2) at Rs 129.

HDFC Bank has added 1.71% (Rs 9) to Rs 540. While ICICI Bank is up 1.32% (Rs 3) at Rs 387, SBI has eased on selling pressure to Rs 609 - down Rs 7 or 1.10%.

Infosys is up a per cent (Rs 14) at Rs 1,928. Wipro (up Rs 2 to Rs 579) and Satyam (up Rs 3 to Rs 371) are trading with steady gains.

Hero Honda has surged 3.31% (Rs 16) to Rs 503. Bajaj has gained 1.18% (Rs 12) to Rs 1,075. Tata Motors and Maruti are up with a steady gains at Rs 418 (up Rs 2) and Rs 416 (up Rs 3), respectively.

Tisco is up 1.92% (Rs 7) at Rs 354.

Gujarat Ambuja and ACC, however, have slipped 1.51% each to Rs 412 and Rs 361, respectively. Grasim is trading lower at Rs 1,180.
