Sensex up 4 pts as profit-taking continues

Extended profit-taking in most of the old and new economy stocks has seen the index erase most of its gains in mid-noon trades. While the Sensex is now up four points at 6,449, the Nifty remains steady at 1,991 - up five points.

ONGC is still trading a per cent higher (Rs 6) at Rs 883. Reliance has scaled down a per cent (Rs 6) to Rs 537. While While ITC is down a per cent (Rs 10) at Rs 1,469, HLL is down a tad at Rs 132.

SBI is still trading with steady gains at Rs 619 - up Rs 4. HDFC Bank and ICICI Bank continue to trade with a per cent loss each at Rs 531 and Rs 390, respectively.

Infosys (down Rs 7 to Rs 2,056) is still displaying a subdued trend, while Wipro is up with a steady gain of Rs 3 at Rs 640.

Bajaj is trading with a per cent gain (Rs 11) at Rs 1,138. While Maruti has gained 1.13% (Rs 5) to Rs 438, Tata Motors is up Rs 2 at Rs 432.

HDFC is up 1.89% (Rs 14) at Rs 750, and Hindalco is up a per cent (Rs 8) at Rs 1,216. While L&T is trading with a per cent gain (Rs 9) at Rs 1,012, BHEL is down a per cent (Rs 6) at Rs 829.
