Sensex up 40pts; REL gains 3%

The Sensex is now up 40 points at 13,885.

Tata Motors and ACC have rallied around 4% each to Rs 878 and Rs 1,177, respectively.

Reliance Energy has surged 3.3% to Rs 558. BHEL, NTPC and Larsen & Toubro have advanced around 2.5% each to Rs 2,587, Rs 152 and Rs 1,411, respectively.

Maruti, Gujarat Ambuja, Hindalco and Dr.Reddy's are up over 1% each to Rs 965, Rs 145, Rs 174 and Rs 779, respectively.

Satyam and Wipro have slipped around 2% each to Rs 457 and Rs 590, respectively.

HDFC Bank has dropped 1.7% to Rs 1,102, and Hero Honda is down 1.4% at Rs 761.

Out of 2,587 stocks traded so far, 1,561 have advanced, 967 have declined and the rest are unchanged.
