Sensex up 41pts; HDFC Bank, Bajaj Auto weak

The Sensex is now up 41 points at 17,390.

The NSE Nifty is up 19 points at 5,130.

Maruti has surged 3.6% to Rs 795. Reliance Energy has rallied 2.5% to Rs 1,596.

Ranbaxy has gained 2.3% at Rs 419. ACC and Wipro have added 2% each to Rs 790 and Rs 431, respectively.

ONGC and Reliance have moved up 1.7% each to Rs 1,015 and Rs 2,469, respectively.

Satyam and Infosys have advanced 1.5% each to Rs 446 and Rs 1,603, respectively.

ITC, Ambuja Cements and Grasim are up around 1% each at Rs 202, Rs 119 and Rs 2,821, respectively.

HDFC Bank has plunged 4.7% to Rs 1,406, and Bajaj Auto has tumbled 4.2% to Rs 2,199.

Mahindra & Mahindra has dropped 2.3% to Rs 614, and SBI has shed 1.6% at Rs 2,080.

Out of 2,653 stocks traded so far, 1,733 have declined, 861 have advanced and 59 are unchanged.
