Sensex up 41pts; Ranbaxy spurts 3%

The Sensex has pared some its gains, and is now up 41 points at 11,127.

Ranbaxy has surged 2.7% to Rs 409. Cipla has spurted 1% to Rs 638.

ITC has rallied 2% to Rs 197. While Infosys has added 1.7% to Rs 3,008, Wipro has gained 1.4% at Rs 536.

ACC and HDFC have declined 1.3% each to Rs 769 and Rs 1,321, respectively.

The market breadth is positive. Out of 2,056 stocks traded so far, 1,333 have advanced, 653 have declined and 70 are unchanged.

Reliance Communication Ventures tops the value chart with a turnover of Rs 36.10 crore followed by Triveni Engineering (Rs 25.14 crore), Mahindra & Mahindra (Rs 23.20 crore), Infosys (Rs 21.47 crore) and Gitanjali Gems (Rs 20.46 crore).

Reliance Natural Resources leads the volume chart with trades of around 54.73 lakh shares followed by Triveni Engineering (22.28 lakh), SAIL (20.54 lakh), Himachal Futuristic (20.25 lakh) and Reliance Communication Ventures (12.06 lakh).
