Sensex up 428pts; Rel Energy zooms 9%

The Sensex is now up 428 points at 18,847.

Reliance Energy has zoomed over 9% to Rs 1,788, and ONGC has soared 5.7% to Rs 1,154.

Tata Steel has surged nearly 4% to Rs 881. Hindalco and HDFC Bank have rallied 3.5% each to Rs 185 and Rs 1,480, respectively.

NTPC, Maruti, Reliance Communications and Bharti Airtel has gained 3% each at Rs 224, Rs 1,130, Rs 739 and Rs 1,100, respectively.

BHEL has moved up 2.8% to Rs 2,406. Reliance and ACC have gained 2.5% each at Rs 2,631 and Rs 1,280, respectively.

TCS, Mahindra & Mahindra, SBI, Cipla and ICICI Bank have advanced 2% each to Rs 1,085, Rs 845, Rs 1,898, Rs 188 and Rs 1,073, respectively.

Hindustan Unilever has slipped nearly 1% to Rs 219.

Out of 2,637 stocks traded so far, 1,911 have advanced, 669 have declined and 57 are unchanged.
