Sensex up 437pts; Reliance hogs limelight

The Sensex is now up 437 points at 9733.

Grasim has zoomed over 12% to Rs 1,758, and Reliance Energy has surged over 10% to Rs 416.

Reliance (RIL) has gained 9% at Rs 900, and NTPC has added 8.5% to Rs 109.

HDFC and Larsen & Toubro have advanced 7.5% each to Rs 1,190 and Rs 2,021, respectively.

Out of 2,294 stocks traded so far, 1,309 have advanced, 953 have declined and the rest are unchanged.

RIL tops the value chart with a turnover of Rs 331.58 crore followed by Infosys (Rs 53.11 crore), Reliance Communication Ventures (Rs 44.62 crore), Tata Steel (Rs 44 crore) and SBI (Rs 43 crore).

RIL also leads the volume chart with trades of around 38.37 lakh shares followed by G V Films (36.20 lakh), IFCI (26.33 lakh), Himachal Futuristic (26 lakh) and Reliance Communication Ventures (21.83 lakh).
