Sensex up 44pts; BHEL, Tata Steel shine

The Sensex has surged 44 points to 11,351.

BHEL has rallied 4.5% to Rs 2,232. Cipla and Tata Steel have spurted over 3% each to Rs 657 and Rs 538, respectively.

Tata Motors, Bajaj Auto and Maruti have advanced over 2% each to Rs 929, Rs 2,750 and Rs 872, respectively.

Gujarat Ambuja and Dr.Reddy's are up 1.5% each at Rs 104 and Rs 1,440, respectively.

Ranbaxy has dropped over 3% to Rs 438. TCS has slipped 2.2% to Rs 1,925.

ONGC has shed 1.7% to Rs 1,314, and HLL is down 1.6% at Rs 269.

The market breadth continues to remain positive. Out of 2,458 stocks traded so far, 1,712 have moved up, 690 have declined and the rest are unchanged.

Tata Steel tops the value chart with a turnover of Rs 78.74 crore followed by SRF (Rs 66.63 crore), Ranbaxy (Rs 64.65 crore), Reliance (Rs 59.02 crore), Titan (Rs 56.72 crore).

IFCI leads the volume chart with trades of around 70.36 lakh shares followed by Reliance Natural Resources (67.54 lakh), SAIL (41.16 lakh), Amar Remedies (28.08 lakh) and Himachal Futuristic (27.64 lakh).
