Sensex up 44pts; market breadth negative

The Sensex is now up 44 points at 10,271.

Grasim, Tata Steel, HDFC, Larsen & Toubro and Dr.Reddy's are steady with gains in excess of 1% each.

Wipro has dropped over 4% to Rs 465. Satyam has slipped 2.5% to Rs 677, and TCS is down 2% at Rs 1,804.

The market breadth has turned negative - out of 1,861 stocks traded so far, 954 have declined, 840 have advanced and the rest are unchanged.
