Sensex up 44pts; ONGC soars 5%

The Sensex is now up 44 points at 17,335.

Reliance Energy has zoomed 12% to Rs 1,349. ONGC and NTPC has soared 5% each to Rs 1,005 and Rs 203, respectively.

Ambuja Cements and Mahindra & Mahindra have surged around 2.5% each to Rs 147 and Rs 770, respectively.

Reliance Communications, Cipla and Dr.Reddy's have rallied 2% each to Rs 599, Rs 186 and Rs 662, respectively.

ACC has moved up 1.5% to Rs 1,212.

Wipro, TCS, SBI and ITC have plunged over 2% each to Rs 450, Rs 1,034, Rs 1,912 and Rs 186, respectively.

HDFC Bank, BHEL and Maruti have slipped around 1.5% each to Rs 1,416, Rs 2,003 and Rs 985, respectively.

Bajaj Auto, HDFC and Tata Steel are down over 1% each.

Out of 2,752 stocks traded so far, 1,681 have advanced, 1,014 have declined and 57 are unchanged.
