Sensex up 454pts; Hindalco, M&M weak

The Sensex is now up 454 points at 10,677.

Jaiprakash Associates has zoomed 14.5% to Rs 78. TCS and Reliance Communications have soared 12% each to Rs 557 and Rs 260, respectively.

Tata Power and Satyam have surged over 10% each to Rs 797 and Rs 319, respectively.

Larsen & Toubro has rallied 8.5% to Rs 881. BHEL has moved up nearly 8% to Rs 1,183.

Tata Steel has gained 7.5% at Rs 271. Reliance Infrastructure and Sterlite have added nearly 7% each to Rs 515 and Rs 290, respectively.

Infosys has advanced over 6% to Rs 1,379. Reliance, HDFC and Wipro are up around 5.5% each at Rs 1,397, Rs 1,981 and Rs 296, respectively.

 

ICICI Bank and Hindustan Unilever are up 4.5% each at Rs 430 and Rs 250, respectively.

Hindalco has plunged 4.5% to Rs 62, and Mahindra & Mahindra has shed 2.8% at Rs 405.

The market breadth is fairly positive - out of 2,560 stocks traded so far, 1,511 have advanced, 979 have declined and the rest are unchanged.
