Sensex up 45pts; ONGC slips 2%

The Sensex is now up 45 points at 10,025.

ITC has pared some gains but is still up 2% at Rs 160.

ICICI Bank, Maruti, Gujarat Ambuja, Cipla, HDFC, Wipro and SBI are the other notable gainers.

ONGC has slipped almost 2% to Rs 1,168. TCS has declined 1.3% to Rs 1,658.

Reliance Energy, Ranbaxy, Reliance, BHEL and Satyam are also on slippery ground.

The market breadth is slightly negative. Out of 2,439 stocks traded so far, 1,420 have declined, 953 have advanced and the rest are unchanged.

Reliance tops the value chart with a turnover of Rs 99.11 crore followed by Indian Hotels (Rs 90.99 crore), Reliance Capital (Rs 65.32 crore), SBI (Rs 50.23 crore) and KEC International (Rs 50.02 crore).

Nitin Spinners leads the volume chart with trades of around 90.25 lakh shares followed by KEC International (64.19 lakh), Amar Remedies (38.93 lakh), Ashok Leyland (38.73 lakh) and SAIL (26.07 lakh).
