Sensex up 47 pts; Reliance Capital up 7%

The Sensex is holding above the 7,800 levels as most of the heavyweights continue to attract strong buying support. It is now up 47 points at 7,803.

Reliance has gained 2% (Rs 15) to Rs 728, while Reliance Energy has advanced 2.37% (Rs 15) to Rs 647. ITC has moved up 1.25% (Rs 21) to Rs 1,735.

BHEL has soared 3.35% (Rs 34) to Rs 1,056, while Tisco has notched up 3% gains (Rs 11) to Rs 379. HDFC, however, is exhibiting weak trends at Rs 915 - down Rs 11.

HDFC Bank has jumped 1.51% (Rs 10) to Rs 686, while ICICI Bank has lost 1.19% (Rs 6) to Rs 511.

Bajaj has scaled up 1.58% (Rs 24) to 1,539. Other auto majors are trading with steady gains.

Reliance Capital has soared 6.64% (Rs 29) to Rs 470. Over 50.35 lakh shares have traded on the BSE so far.

FMCG scrips have logged decent gains. VST has shot up 8.41% (Rs 28) to Rs 365. while Ruchi Soya has advanced 5.42% (Rs 14) to Rs 274, REI Agro has added 4% (Rs 7) to Rs 181. Rayban Sun Opticals, Tata Coffee, Dabur, Bata and Henkel Spic are up in a range of 1-3%.
