Sensex up 48 pts, TCS perks up

Continuing from the Friday's upsurge, the Sensex has notched up significant gains in the opening trades today, with gains particularly strong in tech stocks followed by steady buying support in banking and select heavyweights.

While the Sensex has advanced 48 points at 7,320, the Nifty is up 14 points at 2,227.

TCS has vaulted 4.15% (Rs 52) to Rs 1,300. While Infosys has gained 1.43% (Rs 31) to Rs 2,227, Satyam has added 1.57% (Rs 8) to Rs 488. Wipro is up a per cent (Rs 5) at Rs 709.

SBI and ICICI Bank are up a per cent each at Rs 722 (up Rs 5) and Rs 445 (up Rs 4), respectively.

Reliance Energy has logged 1.90% gains (Rs 12) to Rs 645, while Reliance is up a per cent (Rs 4) at Rs 670. HLL is up 1.35% (Rs 2) at Rs 158. While ITC has tumbled 1.83% (down Rs 32) to Rs 1,736, ONGC has lost 1.26% (Rs 12) to Rs 915.

HDFC is up a per cent (Rs 8) at Rs 895. Cement, auto and pharma stocks, too, have gained in early trades.
