Sensex up 487pts; tech stocks lead

The Sensex is now up 487 points at 19,650.

Wipro has zoomed 5.7% to Rs 520, and Infosys has soared 4.6% to Rs 1,777. TCS has surged 4% to Rs 1,087, and Satyam has gained 3.3% at Rs 442.

Tata Steel and HDFC have rallied around 4.5% each to Rs 863 and Rs 2,845, respectively. ICICI Bank has advanced 3.8% to Rs 1,201.

ONGC has gained 3.4% at Rs 1,231. Mahindra & Mahindra and Bharti Airtel have moved up 2.7% each to Rs 807 and Rs 939, respectively.

HDFC Bank, BHEL and Reliance Energy are up 2.5% each at Rs 1,689, Rs 2,429 and Rs 1,989, respectively.

Larsen & Toubro has added 2.3% to Rs 4,077. NTPC, ITC, Hindalco and Tata Motors are the other major gainers.

Out of 2,685 stocks traded so far, 1,986 have advanced, 658 have declined and 41 are unchanged.
